We are very excited and proud to announce that one of the leading Studs in England has purchased a full brother to Willowcroft Regal Emblem. Jerome Harforth of Stanley Grange Stud saw Regal Bronze as a foal with his dam Willowcroft Saphire and  purchased him last year when he returned to visit the Stud. Jerome stands three or four stallions each year and has a very successful and highly regarded  showing stable. Regal Bronze arrived in May this year, and he already has his first mare in foal. They are thrilled with his wonderfully quiet nature and huge movement.  To my knowledge he is the first Riding Pony to be exported to the UK.

The last six months have seen changes and success for the Stud. After much soul searching we sold Urubula Regal Promise to Wellan Park Stud in NSW..  Broodmares Willowcroft Millbrook and Taffeta, and an exquisite Emblem filly, have joined Promise and a collection of beautiful Riding Pony mares owned by the Wells Family.

Regal Promise as had a significant impact on Willowcroft

Stud, and the show scene in Australia. Although his oldest progeny are only eight, they are doing so well under-saddle. At Sydney and Canberra Royals this year there were several Galloway and Pony classes where two, if not three, out of the top six placings were by this wonderful pony.  At the National Riding Pony Show Promise won the sires rating Trophy again this year, and his stock are winning at the highest levels all over Australia. I wish the Wells’ family the very best of luck and success with “Curley”. We miss his beautiful head over the stable door, his incredible antics in the paddock and his irresistible kindness, confidence and presence that told you he was the “top of the pops”.

Oakvale Serenade ( Syon Royal Portrait/ Chippenham Pop Music ) is returning to Willowcroft this year to stand to outside mares from 1.10. 04  to 1.01.05. His influence in WA is well-known, and he is, of course, the sire of the beautiful Royalwood Merry Music, the current Grand National winner and Champion Ridden Big Pony of Sydney Royal. We can’t wait to see the foals by this superb pony especially, from Emblem’s dam Saphire and full sister Regal Diamonds.

The National Riding Pony of the Year Show in Canberra was again a great success for the Stud. The National Champion and Reserve Ridden Show Pony OTY were W. Regal Secret and W. Springfield. They both continued their winning streak at Canberra Royal where Secret (owned by Maryanne McMahon) won Champion Ridden Pony. Secret’s most recent major win, Supreme Champion Riding Pony Exhibit at Sydney Royal, is her second time for this coveted award!.

We are delighted with the Emblem youngstock some of which are just coming out in the Led Ring. Three were exhibited at the Melbourne Summer Royal this year. Willowcroft Show Me and Dirigeree Park Regal Minetta won their classes and the colt out of W. Promise, Merivale Park NV (owned by Naaman Stud) won the Supreme Led Saddle Pony as a yearling!. Recently NV was awarded National Australia Champion Yearling at the Australian Arabian Championships at Horsley Park. Minetta won at the 2003 Vic Foal Show and Show Me was Supreme Champion foal at the same show in 2002.

I do love to hear the achievements of Willowcroft ponies and Galloways (and progeny by the stallions). Here are a few recent saddle wins from the LAST FEW MONTHS that I am aware of:

• Willowcroft Garland SA O/R Galloway of the Year 04 ridden by Lucy Forest.

• Willowcroft Regal Signature Vic O/R Galloway of the Year ridden  by Leanne Fielding wins include 30 Open Championships, 7 Supremes and 9 Reserves, Res. Champion Ridden Saddle Pony at Melbourne Royal and high placings at Canberra as well as top ten at the Highgain Masters.

• Willowcroft Prescott ridden by Chad Cuncliff wins include Champion Novice Galloway at  Canberra Royal & top ten at HOTY Vic.

• Willowcroft Annie’s Lane  ridden by Briony Payne wins inc. top ten VASA & Barastoc 04 & Champion Newcomer at the NSW Hack Council HOTY Show.

• Willowcroft Tosca  ridden by Shelly Penny wins inc. Runner-up Novice Galloway Hidden Valley & top ten Open Galloway Barastoc Vic.04

• Beaufort Heiress (AI) owned by Sue Peters and ridden by Trinette Crawford many wins include Grand National Galloway of the Year and Reserve Champion at Sydney & at Canberra Royals 04

• Willowcroft Regal Rhapsody ridden by Shelly Penny, Highgain Masters Intermediate Champion & top ten Barastoc, second in Canberra, and second Open Galloway at Sydney Royal 04 to Beaufort Heiress.

• Willowcroft Wembley wins include Supreme Arabian Derivative Canberra Royal04

• Willowcroft  Regal Quest ridden by Michael Christie wins inc. VASA Newcomer of the Year and Top Ten HOTY 04

• Willowcroft Regal Charm owned by the McEvoy family from Vic many wins include Reserve Champion Novice and Open Big Pony. at Adelaide Royal.03

• Willowcroft Masquerade ridden by David Warde wins include the Grand slam Challenge in Mildura and another small galloway Naaman Protégé (by Promise) has had great success including wins at Melbourne Royal 04.

In NZ Amberleigh High Hopes (AI) by Emblem was awarded Runner up NZ In-Hand Pony of the Year as a yearling, as well as Supreme Foal earlier in the year and Supreme Led Youngstock Exhibit at the Canterbury Breeders Show 04.Willowcroft Spring Song has taken all before her under saddle this last season.
