His pedigree boasts some of the most successful bloodlines both in Australia and the UK. This multi-supreme Champion is out of Willowcroft Saphire by Urubula Regal Promise. Saphire is a liver chestnut by Willowcroft Wizard from Weston Sequin. The trophy for Supreme Champion Riding Pony Exhibit at Sydney Royal is a replica of this exquisite mare, herself a multi-champion. Her many accolades include Champion Riding Pony at Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney Royal Shows in one season (1991/92)!
Regal Emblem's show career started with Supreme Champion Exhibit as
a foal. At the 1999 Adelaide Royal Show, he won Supreme Champion
Riding Pony Exhibit and Champion Saddle Pony Exhibit. At the 2000
Adelaide Royal, he was Supreme in the Saddle Pony Ring and Champion
in the Riding Pony Ring. Later that year, Emblem was awarded Supreme Youngstock Exhibit at the SA Riding Pony of the Year Show in
November. In 2001, he won Supreme Champion Led Saddle Pony Exhibit
at the Melbourne Summer Royal, was a finalist at the Nationals and
won Reserve Champion Riding Pony Stallion at the Sydney Royal Easter
Show. Emblem was campaigned again in 2003 and 2005.
At the Riding Pony Nationals in 2003, Emblem was awarded Ridden
Riding Pony Stallion of the Year after only eleven rides. In fact,
when he went to Anthony Mountney's Training Stables at Kembla
Grange, Anthony was unaware that Emblem had not been broken in.
Anthony rang Willowcroft Stud after a week or so to say that
Emblem's canter work was very green! Emblem had been ridden out
around the race track with other horses all week as if he had been
under-saddle for months. Soon after at Sydney Royal, Emblem won his
Led as well as Ridden Riding Pony Stallion. He was also Champion
Arabian Derivative Led and Reserve Champion
Later in the same year, Emblem won Supreme Riding Pony Exhibit at Brisbane Royal in very strong company. A month later, at Adelaide Royal, he again claimed the Supreme Champion Riding Pony award, as well as Supreme Champion Saddle Pony and Champion Galloway (there is no Supreme award in the Galloway ring). What a fabulous year - four Royals and the Nationals - unbeaten under saddle and three Supreme Champion Riding Pony Awards.
Emblem's success continued into 2005 where he was again awarded
Supreme Champion Ridden Riding Pony Stallion of the Year at the
Riding Pony Nationals, ridden brilliantly for the first time by
After six busy weeks of serving mares, Emblem competed at the SA Riding Pony of the Year Show at the end of October 2005. Emblem won the admiration of all the crowd for his unbelievably quiet nature, impeccable manners and brilliant performance. He won Supreme Champion Led Riding Pony of the Year, Supreme Champion SA Bred Led and Ridden Riding Pony of the Year, but just run out of puff for the Ridden Final- he had not carried a saddle for several months and was truly exhausted by the end of the day. This time, Emblem was ridden by Kelly White who had just one ride on him before the event at Adelaide Royal. After prying an obviously ecstatic Kelly [pictured opposite] out of the saddle she suggested that Emblem should be gelded immediately so she could continue his saddle career and have "a bit of fun at the Nationals".
Emblem has also turned heads with leading show stables in the UK,
with his AI progeny
Emblem epitomises the true riding pony - he has exceptional
bloodlines, excellent confirmation,, a charming nature, brilliant
movement but most of all he has pony character. It is unusual to
find a riding pony stallion in Australia, with bloodlines that are
seven eights imported Riding Pony from the top Studs in the UK. Most
Riding Pony Stallions over 14hh have a
great deal more Thoroughbred in their pedigree,
